“I understand a lot of people are going to disagree with my decision — it happens all the time,” Haden told the “Trojans Live” radio show, via the Los Angeles Times. “I believe the course of action we chose was really in the best interest of USC and Steve Sarkisian and maybe just as important, or more importantly, our players.”

Sarkisian apologized for using inappropriate language at the event and disparaging other programs, saying he mixed alcohol and unspecified medications. His only punishment came from his players — a session of up-downs that left him drenched in sweat, according to Trojans QB Cody Kessler. 

Haden said he had conversations with medical professionals before deciding on his course of action with Sarkisian, who has since started his counseling stage treatment.
